Many parents now prefer to have their child welcomed into their circle of friends and family by having a Naming Ceremony conducted by a civil celebrant rather than a religious-based christening or baptism.
A Naming Ceremony is a joyful celebration of publicly welcoming a child into the world and will usually include the appointment of sponsors or mentors (the equivalent of God-parents in a religious ceremony) who will promise to undertake the important role of taking on some responsibility in the child's life.
The ceremony will typically include -
On booking your ceremony, and to help you decide on what you would like to include in the ceremony, I will give you an ‘Information Pack' which will give general information about naming ceremonies together with a selection of poems and readings you might like to use. It also includes a planning sheet.
At the end of the ceremony, I will give you a beautiful Certificate of Naming which will include a photograph of your child. I will also give you a beautifully presented copy of the ceremony in which I include some blank pages for your guests to sign and to write their wishes to your child.
"Thank you so much Liz for a perfect ceremony. You interpreted what we wanted
I am also happy to prepare a print-ready Order of Ceremony in your choice of available formats which you can either print off on your own colour printer or have professionally printed. These make a nice keepsake for your guests and will be prepared to complement the Naming Certificate and the Sponsor Certificates.
"I've never been to a Naming Ceremony before. Actually I‘d never even heard of one
